What is CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing?
Advances in technology have allowed surgeons to use short pulses of light beams to remove thin layers of skin through a technique called CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing. Its a simple way to treat wrinkles, scars and a variety of other skin elasticity issues.
As we age, loss of skin elasticity naturally leads to the development of fine lines and wrinkles. Some of these lines are best treated via injectable dermal fillers or Botox injections, and others are better treated with the use of a fractional CO2 laser. Dr. Hellman will discuss which treatment is right for you during your consultation.
How Does CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?
The CO2 laser penetrates to the skin level called the dermis, where it stimulates the growth of new collagen. The new collagen gives more support to the skin, creating a firmer, more youthful appearance, and minimizing fine lines. The most common locations for CO2 laser skin resurfacing are the lower lid and perioral (area around the mouth) areas, but some patients will benefit from treatment of the entire face.
Is CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing Covered by Most Insurance Policies?
CO2 laser skin resurfacing is a cosmetic procedure not typically covered by most insurance policies.
