Education:
Dr. Michael Millsap, O.D. completed his optometric education at Pacific University College of Optometry. He finished his last 2 years of undergraduate work at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. A Colorado Springs resident since 1970, he graduated and began a solo practice for over 12 years before joining Rocky Mountain Eye Center in 2015 and moving to Salida.
While in his solo practice, he often had to refer complicated diagnosis to local ophthalmologists prompting his interest in joining Rocky Mountain Eye Center. Now, as an RMEC provider, he has unique access to an advanced medical network of eye care specialist employed by the center. This simple network integration saves the patient and doctor precious time, while continuing to expand Dr. Millsap’s eye disease treatment opportunities.

They love the small town environment and the sheer fact that the sun shines almost every day. He has experienced a lot of different places and loves to call Colorado his home.

With Dr. Millsap
“My background before optometry was very diverse. I traveled often being part of a military family where my father was a fighter pilot. As we traveled, I worked a variety of jobs before deciding on optometry as a career. Add in that I have worn glasses or contacts most of my life, experienced cataract and keratotomy surgery; I feel like I can relate to the many diverse patients I care for daily.”
“Taking time to care for our elderly community is a great joy. I find that as I treat them, I really get to know them. I have discovered that they are a true treasure of information and wisdom for those that are willing to spend their time investing in them individually. They demonstrate true appreciation, and I can see how much my services can really help someone in need.”
