Dr. Heather N. Kim, O.D. is a Southern California native who graduated from the University of California At San Diego with a BS in Biology. She continued her education at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University.
She joined RMEC to be part of a clinic that fostered growing relationships with patients and particularly enjoys taking care of the whole family from children to grandparents. She is proud that many RMEC patients place their trust in their doctors and staff for years. She values being a part of a clinic that invests in long-term relationships.
Dr. Kim also likes discussing interesting cases with colleagues through the regional, multi-care center model. She is heartened to know she can refer patients to specialists within RMEC and also discuss new types of treatments available.
Dr. Kim specializes in primary care, contact lenses, ocular disease and pediatrics. Her favorite opportunity is treat complete family needs for grandparents, parents, and children.

She and her husband Philip have a young son and two rambunctious dogs who all love exploring different alpine lakes, enjoying the ever-present Colorado sunshine, and soaking in any number of the hot springs in the area.
When not hiking or biking on the trail, she also enjoys experimenting with new recipes, especially Korean foods that she grew up eating. She is attracted to Southern Colorado because of its plentiful access to nature and all four seasons, especially fall.
What personal history helped you become a better eye doctor?
“I’ve worn glasses since a teenager and grew up always enjoying my visits with my optometrist. Eye care just seemed to fit for me.”
Describe that first time you knew that being an eye care doctor was your calling?
“Growing up, I knew I wanted to do something that was centered around helping others. I also wanted a career where I felt happy doing what I do. There are serious eye diseases and not every exam results in a light-hearted and enjoyable experience, but I do think that most of the time, I find myself laughing and enjoying my time with patients throughout the day.”
