Dr. Anna Clark grew up in Pueblo, CO and graduated from Illinois College of Optometry. Upon graduating, she joined the Army as an active duty optometrist for three years before returning back to Southern Colorado. Dr. Clark opened two private practice offices for 5 years in Walsenburg and Colorado City before choosing to become an active optometrist within the Rocky Mountain Eye Center network.

As a solo entrepreneur for several years, Dr. Clark appreciates the value of being connected to RMEC’s extensive team of experts including the vast access to additional services and equipment that the partnership brings her patients. She believes that camaraderie in care strengthens all those the organization touches including the medical team.

Dr. Clark has a servant heart, as she is not only an Army veteran, but she also served our country as a meteorologist in the Air Force before deciding on a future in optometry. She honorably has completed two enlistment terms of service. Her enlistment is the launching point for her passion to serve those in need.

Dr. Clark is the founder and CEO of a non-profit organization that provides eye exams and glasses to low-income earners, as well as, the local homeless population. She serves on The Pueblo Rescue Mission homeless shelter board and continues doing medical mission trips in under-served countries.

During her medical care, Dr. Clark has identified a love for pediatric care and is especially known for her gentle demeanor with young patients.

What personal history helped you become a better eye doctor?

“I struggled with headaches much of my life until I went to college; that is when I received my first pair of glasses. Wearing the glasses, combined with vision therapy, greatly helped my headaches. Now, I’m able to offer the same relief to many of my patients. Relieving pain while helping patients see better is a gift I cherish.”

Describe that first time you knew that being an eye care doctor was your calling.

“Most children have no idea that they are seeing differently than their peers. They believe that their vision is normal and the same as everyone else. Even children who do well on a basic vision screening may have visual disorders that can only be uncovered in a comprehensive eye exam. As a child that suffered from headaches later connected to my vision, I understand the importance of early eye care. Volunteering in schools to offer free vision screenings has shown me that our children need more medical attention than most people realize.”
